ABPW10 PGTW 210600 MSGID/GENADMIN/JOINT TYPHOON WRNCEN PEARL HARBOR HI// SUBJ/SIGNIFICANT TROPICAL WEATHER ADVISORY FOR THE WESTERN AND SOUTH PACIFIC OCEANS/210600Z-220600ZOCT2018// REF/A/MSG/JOINT TYPHOON WRNCEN PEARL HARBOR HI/202121ZOCT2018// AMPN/REF A IS A TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION ALERT.// RMKS/ 1. WESTERN NORTH PACIFIC AREA (180 TO MALAY PENINSULA): A. TROPICAL CYCLONE SUMMARY: NONE. B. TROPICAL DISTURBANCE SUMMARY: (1) THE AREA OF CONVECTION (INVEST 96W) PREVIOUSLY LOCATED NEAR 23.2N 151.2E, HAS DISSIPATED AND IS NO LONGER SUSPECT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SIGNIFICANT TROPICAL CYCLONE IN THE NEXT 24 HOURS. (2) THE AREA OF CONVECTION (INVEST 97W) PREVIOUSLY LOCATED NEAR 8.1N 160.6E, IS NOW LOCATED NEAR 8.2N 159.7E, APPROXIMATELY 935 NM EAST-SOUTHEAST OF ANDERSEN AFB, GUAM. ANIMATED MULTISPECTRAL SATELLITE IMAGERY AND A 202258Z MHS 89GHZ MICROWAVE IMAGE DEPICT A SLIGHTLY ELONGATED LOW LEVEL CIRCULATION WITH PERSISTING CONVECTION LOCATED NEAR THE CENTER. THE DISTURBANCE IS LOCATED IN AN AREA OF EXCELLENT EQUATORWARD OUTFLOW, LOW (5-10 KNOTS) VERTICAL WIND SHEAR, AND VERY WARM SEA SURFACE TEMPERATURES (30-32 CELSIUS). GLOBAL MODELS INDICATE THE SYSTEM WILL TRACK TO THE WEST-NORTHWEST OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS AND BEGIN TO CONSOLIDATE AND INTENSIFY TO WARNING CRITERIA WITHIN THE NEXT 36 HOURS. IN THE EXTENDED TAUS THE MODELS SHOW TWO SEPARATE POSSIBLE STORM TRACKS, ONE SHOWING A TRACK CONTINUING TO THE NORTHWEST TOWARDS JAPAN AND THE OTHER INDICATING A RECURVATURE SCENARIO AS THE SYSTEM INTERACTS WITH THE SUBTROPICAL RIDGE TO THE NORTHEAST. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED SURFACE WINDS ARE ESTIMATED AT 18 TO 23 KNOTS. MINIMUM SEA LEVEL PRESSURE IS ESTIMATED TO BE NEAR 1007 MB. THE POTENTIAL FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SIGNIFICANT TROPICAL CYCLONE WITHIN THE NEXT 24 HOURS REMAINS HIGH. SEE REF A (WTPN21 PGTW 202130) FOR FURTHER DETAILS. (3) NO OTHER SUSPECT AREAS. 2. SOUTH PACIFIC AREA (WEST COAST OF SOUTH AMERICA TO 135 EAST): A. TROPICAL CYCLONE SUMMARY: NONE. B. TROPICAL DISTURBANCE SUMMARY: NONE.// NNNN

1 Rain season: Jan 1st to Dec 31st.   5 Estimated amount of water needed to replace the water used by plants and evaporation from the past week. (Negative numbers mean amount of water needed, positive numbers mean excess water is present).   6 Air Quality Index is provided by Minnesota Polution Control Agency and is updated hourly between the hours of 6AM and Midnight.   9 Solar Index represents either an absolute scale of solar energy (W/m²) using the station’s recorded maximum or a percentage of computed theoretical solar maximum using the station’s location and time of day. These indices differ most when the sun is low on the horizon. The current scale is shown, and will toggle if it or the icon is clicked.   10 Historical average only to day 21 of just the month of October for this station since 2016.   11 Historical average rain this season to day 21 of October for this station since 2016.
